Rev. Francis L. Cardozo's Letter to Samuel Hunt, Superintendent of Education of the AMA

Title

Rev. Francis L. Cardozo's Letter to Samuel Hunt, Superintendent of Education of the AMA

Subject

Concerning racial discrimination in the hiring of teachers through the AMA for Cardozo's new Normal School in Charleston S.C.

Description

In this letter Cardozo asks Hunt to respond and assure both Wall and Alexander that he had not in fact requested white teachers from the AMA as Hunt apparently led them to believe but instead had requested Northern teachers. He goes on to explain how bad this miscommunication could be for his reputation and budding political career.
